Minister Gadkari warned that fatalities from road accidents in India now exceed those from terrorism, war and Covid-19.
Gadkari pointed out that the number of lives lost in road accidents has risen to a level higher than deaths caused by terrorism, war and the Covid-19 pandemic. The observation was made to draw attention to the growing public health crisis on Indian roads.
He emphasized that the trend signals a pressing need for stronger road‑safety measures across the country.
The statement reinforces ongoing government efforts to improve highway infrastructure, tighten traffic‑law enforcement and launch awareness campaigns aimed at reducing the fatality rate.
