The Ganga’s water level surged in Munger, flooding several villages and prompting the deployment of nine NDRF teams, as authorities keep a close watch on river conditions following Nepal’s recent floods.

The water level of the Ganga rose sharply in Munger district, causing floodwaters to enter multiple villages early this week. Local officials reported that the surge follows heavy rains in neighboring Nepal, which have already triggered alerts across Bihar.

State disaster management teams have been dispatched to the affected areas, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has positioned nine teams on standby to assist with rescue and relief operations. The teams are equipped to conduct evacuations, provide medical aid, and distribute essential supplies.

Authorities are monitoring the river’s flow continuously and have warned residents in low‑lying zones to remain vigilant. Emergency shelters have been set up in nearby towns, and relief officials are coordinating with police and local bodies to ensure swift response.

The situation remains fluid, and officials have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel near the riverbanks until water levels recede.
