India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has yet to confirm his participation in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, leaving selectors and fans awaiting a decision.
India’s senior wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is poised to play a key role in the team’s first Test against New Zealand, but his availability remains unconfirmed. The selectors have not yet received a definitive response from Pant regarding his participation in the series scheduled to start in early August.
Reports suggest that Pant may be weighing his fitness and form before committing to the long-format game. While he has been a regular in limited‑overs cricket, the transition to a full Test match has raised questions about his readiness.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed willingness to accommodate Pant’s decision, noting that his experience would be valuable in the high‑pressure environment of a Test series. However, the team’s management has also highlighted the need for a clear roster to plan strategies.
Until Pant confirms his status, the selectors will likely keep alternative wicketkeepers on standby. The uncertainty adds an element of suspense for fans eager to see the young cricketer’s potential in the longer format.
