Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister J. R. Rijiju urged stakeholders to engage in dialogue to address concerns over the State Urban Management Plan (SUMP).

Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister J. R. Rijiju said that the concerns raised about the State Urban Management Plan (SUMP) should be tackled through constructive dialogue. He highlighted that the plan, which aims to guide sustainable urban development in the state, has faced questions regarding its implementation and resource allocation.

Rijiju emphasized that a collaborative approach involving government officials, local bodies and community representatives is essential to address these challenges. He called for a forum where all stakeholders could discuss the plan’s objectives, timelines and funding mechanisms.

The former chief minister noted that dialogue would help build consensus and ensure that the SUMP aligns with the needs of Arunachal’s growing urban centres. He urged the state machinery to set up a working group to facilitate this process.

While no specific timetable was announced, Rijiju’s remarks signal a willingness to revisit the plan’s framework and seek broad-based support for its successful execution.
