The Punjab RERA authority has directed a builder in Mohali to repay homebuyers ₹22.20 lakh, acknowledging a delay of over 15 years in project completion.

The Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) issued an order directing a builder based in Mohali to refund ₹22.20 lakh to aggrieved homebuyers. The decision came after a prolonged delay in the completion of a residential project that stretched beyond 15 years.

According to the authority, the builder failed to deliver the promised units within the stipulated time, causing financial hardship to the buyers. RERA’s intervention aims to provide relief and enforce accountability under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

The refund amount includes the principal sum paid by the buyers; no additional interest or compensation was mentioned in the order. The builder is required to transfer the funds within the timeframe specified by RERA.
