Request to MP for Comprehensive Development of Gandhal Village
Demand for MPLAD Funds and Appropriate Grants for Various Development Works
Arakera, Sept. 18: A memorandum has been submitted to the Member of Parliament representing the Raichur–Yadgir Lok Sabha constituency, urging necessary measures for the comprehensive development of Gandhal village in Arakera taluk of Raichur district, in view of the shortage of basic amenities in the village.
Village leader Shivraj, son of Linganna Ganadhal, who is a member of the Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee and General Secretary of the Raichur District Congress Publicity Committee, submitted the memorandum to the MP and urged that the key demands of the villagers be addressed.
Key Demands
🔹 Construction of Public Toilets:
A well-equipped public toilet facility should be constructed near the Gandhal bus stand and market area for the convenience of the public, particularly women.
🔹 Establishment of a Government College:
A government degree college should be established in the village to provide higher-education opportunities for students from Gandhal and surrounding villages.
🔹 Development of the 300-Year-Old Fort:
The approximately 300-year-old historic fort in the village should be preserved and developed. Considering its historical significance and tourism potential, conservation measures, basic infrastructure and necessary facilities should be provided within the fort premises.
🔹 Construction of a Student Hostel:
A safe student hostel, particularly for girl students, should be constructed to benefit students from Gandhal and nearby villages.
🔹 Permanent Solution to Drinking Water Problem:
A permanent solution should be provided to the drinking water problem that has continued in the village for several years, ensuring a regular supply of clean and adequate drinking water to residents.
The memorandum stated that these demands are essential for the educational development of the village, improvement of basic infrastructure, resolution of the drinking water problem and preservation of its historical heritage.
Congress leader Shivraj urged the authorities to provide appropriate funding under relevant departmental schemes and, wherever possible, through the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), and to accord priority to Gandhal's development works and take immediate action.
