The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for extremely heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya, urging residents to take precautions.

India's Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for extremely heavy rainfall over the states of Assam and Meghalaya.

The alert, which is the highest level of warning, is in force from 6 pm today until 6 pm tomorrow.

The warning covers the entire states and is aimed at preventing loss of life and property.

Residents in affected districts are urged to stay indoors, avoid traveling on roads prone to flooding, and keep emergency supplies ready. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as needed.
