# Ready to Conclude Cricket Matches Before School Hours: Locals Urge Authorities Not to Disrupt HPL Tournament

### Locals assure that the tournament will conclude before school begins to avoid disrupting academic activities; allegations that those who earlier participated in organizing the event are now opposing it

**Jalahalli, October 26:** Local residents of Jalahalli town in Devadurga taluk of Raichur district have been organizing the HPL (Horatti Premier League) cricket tournament every year at the playground of the Government Boys' Higher Primary School. This year, too, the tournament has been organized with the aim of encouraging sports among youth, promoting physical fitness, and providing opportunities for local sporting talent.

However, local residents and players have expressed their displeasure, alleging that some individuals are attempting to obstruct the tournament.

In this regard, local residents and cricketers submitted a representation to ECO Naresh, who visited the school, requesting permission to continue the tournament. They assured him that all cricket matches would be completed before the school begins in the morning, ensuring that academic activities are not disrupted in any way. They appealed to the authorities and concerned individuals to cooperate rather than interfere with the tournament.

### Locals Allege That Those Who Helped Organize the Tournament Are Now Opposing It

Local residents have alleged that Balraj and Uday Kumar, who reportedly complained that private individuals were conducting a cricket tournament on the school playground, had themselves convened a meeting earlier to organize the HPL tournament.

According to the locals, the meeting date and time were fixed, and a message was circulated in a WhatsApp group before the meeting was held. Details of the tournament prizes were also agreed upon and published in the group. They further stated that the two individuals had participated in the process of receiving applications from players.

However, the locals now allege that efforts are being made through the authorities to stop the tournament because the players are not acting according to certain individuals' expectations.

The statements of the concerned individuals will be included in this report if their responses become available.

### Demand to Allow Tournament Without Affecting Academic Activities

Cricketers and local residents have urged the authorities to allow the tournament to continue, provided it does not interfere with the school's academic activities. They have also called for appropriate measures to encourage the sporting interests of local youth.

Those present on the occasion included Durugappa Horatti, Badavara Nayaka Lingadahalli, Mounesh Dasara, Hanumantha Madival, Ammanna, and Ranganath Vandali, among others.
