The Reserve Bank of India has announced a set of new safety measures aimed at curbing digital fraud, emphasizing stricter verification and enhanced monitoring of online transactions.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today unveiled a comprehensive framework of safety measures designed to curb digital fraud across the country.

Key provisions include mandatory multi‑factor authentication for high‑value transactions, real‑time monitoring of suspicious activity, and the deployment of AI‑driven fraud detection tools by participating banks.

RBI has set a 90‑day implementation window, urging all scheduled banks to integrate the new protocols into their systems and to conduct staff training on fraud‑prevention practices.

In a statement, RBI highlighted the growing sophistication of cyber‑criminals and underscored its commitment to safeguarding consumers and maintaining confidence in the digital payments ecosystem.
