A 20‑day Vijayadashami Ramleela, a tradition since 1941, began at Kila Maidan in Buxar, with Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari lauding the event and the opening performance of Narad Moh Lila.

Buxar's historic Kila Maidan witnessed the launch of a 20‑day Vijayadashami Ramleela festival, a cultural tradition that dates back to 1941. The opening ceremony was attended by Bihar's Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, who praised the organizers for keeping the age‑old practice alive and for promoting regional heritage.

The first day featured a dramatized rendition of "Narad Moh Lila," a story that underscores devotion and humility. Performers, dressed in traditional attire, enacted the episode before a crowd that included local officials, senior citizens, and schoolchildren, all of whom responded with enthusiastic applause.

Organised by a local cultural committee in collaboration with the state’s Department of Culture, the festival aims to run for twenty consecutive days, culminating on Vijayadashami. The schedule includes nightly performances of mythological episodes, folk music, and dance, reflecting the syncretic fabric of Bihar's cultural landscape.

Authorities have ensured security and crowd management, while volunteers provide information and basic amenities. The event is expected to draw visitors from neighboring districts, boosting local commerce and reinforcing Buxar's reputation as a hub of traditional arts.

The Ramleela continues a legacy of community participation, with each year's rendition offering a platform for regional artists and a reminder of the enduring relevance of mythic narratives in contemporary society.
