The Hindi film Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, collected less than ₹100 crore in India on its opening day, falling short of expectations.

Ramayana, the latest Hindi epic starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, opened across India on Thursday but failed to hit the ₹100 crore mark on its first day of release. The film’s domestic earnings were reported at approximately ₹95 crore, a figure that disappointed distributors and the production house.

Industry analysts had projected a higher opening, citing the star power and the film’s mythological theme. The shortfall is seen as a setback for the makers, who had invested heavily in marketing and a wide release strategy.

Several factors may have contributed to the underperformance. Competition from other releases in the same week, limited screen availability in key metros, and mixed word‑of‑mouth reviews are all potential reasons for the lower takings.

The film’s producers have expressed concern but remain optimistic that a strong second‑day performance could offset the initial loss. They are also exploring targeted promotions to boost footfall in the coming days.
