Rakhi Ties Symbolize Road Safety: 80 Drivers Wear Helmet Rakhi at Udaipur’s CA Circle

Udaipur’s municipal authorities launched a novel road‑safety campaign on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, linking the festival’s protective symbolism with traffic safety. At the CA Circle, volunteers tied small helmet‑shaped Rakhi bands around the wrists of 80 drivers, emphasizing the importance of wearing helmets while riding two‑wheelers.

The initiative, organized in collaboration with local traffic police and community groups, aimed to harness the emotional bond celebrated during Rakhi to reinforce a habit that saves lives. Participants were briefed on the legal requirement for helmets and the risks of non‑compliance, with the colourful Rakhi serving as a visual reminder.

Organisers reported a positive response from the drivers, many of whom pledged to keep helmets on at all times. The campaign is part of a broader effort by Rajasthan’s transport department to reduce road‑traffic injuries ahead of the festive season, when road travel typically spikes.
