The much‑anticipated sequel ‘Jailer 2’, featuring superstar Rajinikanth, is set to launch on over‑the‑top streaming platforms after its theatrical run. The film is part of the recent wave of releases that collectively pushed the Indian film industry’s revenue past the Rs 800 crore mark.
According to the announcement, the digital version will contain roughly thirty minutes of new material not shown in cinemas, giving viewers extended narrative content and additional action sequences.
Industry observers note that the extra footage could enhance the film’s appeal to the streaming audience, potentially driving higher viewership numbers on the major OTT services that will host the title.
The move reflects a broader trend of high‑budget Indian movies moving to digital platforms shortly after their theatrical window, aiming to capitalize on both box‑office earnings and online subscription revenues.
