Rajinikanth explains his decision to join Jailer 2 after turning down Baasha 2 and Petta 2

Veteran actor Rajinikanth, speaking to India Today, detailed why he agreed to star in the upcoming sequel Jailer 2. He noted that the offer came after he had declined two other high‑profile projects, Baasha 2 and Petta 2, which were being discussed with him earlier this year.

According to the star, the scripts for Baasha 2 and Petta 2 did not meet his creative expectations. He felt that the narratives and character arcs in those proposals were not aligned with the legacy he wishes to preserve in his later career.

In contrast, the Jailer 2 script resonated with him, offering a fresh storyline that builds on the original film’s tone while providing room for his signature style. He also praised the director’s vision and the production team’s commitment, which convinced him to come on board.

Rajinikanth concluded by expressing enthusiasm for the project, stating that he looks forward to collaborating with the cast and delivering a film that meets audience expectations.
