A recent assembly report reveals that 611 government schools in Rajasthan have no proper buildings, while 2,047 lack toilets and many students are without drinking water.
A report presented in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly highlighted a severe infrastructure deficit in the state's public schools. According to the data, 611 government schools are functioning without any permanent building, forcing teachers and pupils to operate in makeshift shelters.
The same survey found that 2,047 schools do not have any toilet facilities, raising concerns about sanitation and health for students, especially girls. In addition, several schools reported that drinking water is not available on campus, leaving children to rely on unsafe or distant sources.
Education officials have been urged to prioritize funding for basic amenities, as the lack of essential infrastructure hampers learning outcomes and violates national standards for school facilities.
