The Rajasthan government has tabled a comprehensive maintenance scheme for 3,319 urban parks, backed by a state‑wide survey database, before the High Court in Jaipur.

The state government of Rajasthan presented a detailed action plan for the preservation and upkeep of public parks before the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur. The plan stems from a recent state‑level survey that catalogued 3,319 parks across urban local bodies, creating the first comprehensive database of its kind.

According to the proposal, a centralized digital system will be introduced to monitor park conditions, schedule routine maintenance, and allocate resources efficiently. The scheme also outlines training programmes for municipal staff and the use of modern equipment to improve cleanliness and landscaping standards.

Officials said the initiative aims to enhance green spaces for residents, promote healthier urban environments, and ensure accountability through regular reporting to the court and the public. Implementation is slated to begin later this year, pending the court's approval.

The move reflects Rajasthan's broader commitment to urban development and environmental sustainability, aligning with national directives on green infrastructure.

Stakeholders, including local municipal corporations, have been invited to provide feedback during the next phase of the project, which will focus on pilot testing in selected districts before a statewide rollout.
