The Rajasthan government reports 76,791 vacancies in its public schools and will appoint guest faculty under the Vidya Sambal scheme to address the shortfall.

Rajasthan's education department has disclosed that 76,791 teaching and support positions across its government schools remain unfilled, creating a significant staffing gap. The vacancies span primary to secondary levels and include both regular teachers and ancillary staff.

To mitigate the shortage, the state has issued directives to recruit guest faculty under the Vidya Sambal scheme, a program aimed at providing temporary instructional support while permanent recruitment processes are streamlined. The guest faculty will be appointed on a contractual basis, with eligibility criteria and remuneration outlined in the scheme's guidelines.

The government expects the interim appointments to begin within the next few weeks, prioritising districts with the highest vacancy rates. Officials say the move will help maintain classroom continuity and prevent disruption to students' learning outcomes until the vacant posts are permanently filled.

Education officials have also urged school principals to submit vacancy lists promptly, enabling faster processing of guest faculty contracts. The initiative reflects the state's broader effort to improve educational infrastructure and teacher availability across Rajasthan.
