The Rajasthan Special Operations Group detained four foreign medical graduates accused of using forged FMGE certificates, highlighting a crackdown on fraudulent medical qualifications.
Rajasthan's Special Operations Group (SOG) announced the arrest of four individuals holding foreign medical degrees who were found to be in possession of counterfeit Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) certificates. The police operation was carried out after intelligence inputs indicated that the suspects were attempting to use the forged documents to secure medical practice licenses in India.
The FMGE is a mandatory screening test for Indian citizens who have obtained medical qualifications abroad and wish to register with the Medical Council of India. Possession of a valid FMGE certificate is a legal prerequisite for practicing medicine, and any falsification of this document is a punishable offense under Indian law.
According to the SOG, the four graduates were apprehended during a coordinated raid and are now in police custody. Investigators are examining how the fake certificates were produced and distributed, and whether a larger network is involved in similar fraudulent activities.
Authorities have warned that they will continue to monitor and act against any attempts to undermine the integrity of medical licensing, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding public health through strict enforcement of qualification standards.
