The Rajasthan government will implement new guidelines from November 2 to streamline the conversion of farm land for non‑agricultural purposes, removing previous procedural hurdles.
The state government of Rajasthan announced that from November 2, a revised set of regulations will govern the conversion of agricultural land to non‑agricultural uses. The new framework is designed to cut down on bureaucratic delays and eliminate the need for multiple approvals that previously slowed down development projects.
Under the updated rules, landowners seeking to repurpose farm plots for industrial, commercial or residential purposes will submit a single application to the district revenue office. The authority will then conduct a streamlined verification, after which the conversion certificate can be issued within a stipulated time frame.
Officials said the move aims to boost investment in rural areas while ensuring that land use changes are recorded transparently. The government will also maintain a digital register to track all conversions, helping prevent illegal diversions of agricultural land.
The policy applies across all districts of Rajasthan and will be monitored by the Department of Agriculture and the Revenue Department to balance development needs with agricultural sustainability.
