Rajasthan Reschedules Elections to Avoid Dhanteras Clash

The Election Commission of Rajasthan has revised the state’s election timetable to avoid a clash with the Dhanteras festival, a major Hindu celebration that falls on the 15th of the lunar month.

Under the new schedule, polling will take place on a series of dates rather than a single day, allowing voters to participate without the festival’s cultural constraints.

The commission emphasized that the change aims to ensure maximum voter turnout and smooth conduct of polls. Detailed dates and polling booth information will be released shortly by the state election office.

Political parties have welcomed the adjustment, noting that it will reduce logistical challenges and improve voter access during the festive period.
