In the second phase of Rajasthan’s panchayat elections, 19.29% of eligible voters had cast their ballots by 10 AM, with Samaraou recording the highest turnout.
The second phase of Rajasthan’s gram‑panchayat elections began early today, covering 3,626 village councils across 22 districts. By 10 AM, election officials reported that 19.29% of the electorate had already voted, indicating a steady early turnout.
Among the villages, the hamlet of Samaraou stood out, posting the highest percentage of voters who reached the polling stations. Local officials said the surge reflects heightened community interest in choosing new sarpanch and panch members.
A total of 21,839 candidates are contesting the sarpanch seats, while 45 gram panchayats have already declared unopposed sarpanchs, ending contests in those areas before voting began. The Election Commission continues to monitor the process live, urging citizens to exercise their franchise before the polls close later today.
