The three phases of Rajasthan’s panchayat elections have been moved by one day, with voting now scheduled to avoid Dhanteras.
The State Election Commission of Rajasthan announced a one‑day shift in the schedule of the three‑phase panchayat elections. The change ensures that none of the voting days fall on Dhanteras, a major Hindu festival observed across the state.
Phase 1, originally set for Dhanteras, will now be held the following day, with Phase 2 and Phase 3 each moved forward by a single day as well. The adjustment aligns the electoral calendar with local religious sentiments while maintaining the overall timeline for completing the elections.
Election officials said the revised timetable will not affect the total number of polling stations or the count of voters eligible to cast their ballots. Security arrangements and voter awareness campaigns will proceed as planned, with additional communication to inform citizens of the new dates.
The commission urged voters to stay updated through official notices and local media, emphasizing that the shift is intended to facilitate smooth conduct of the polls without compromising cultural observances.
