The Rajasthan High Court has issued a notice to the State Election Commission, demanding a response within two weeks on why the permanent IPS officer’s posting as Superintendent of Police in Nagaur remains pending.

A public interest litigation filed by the National Democratic Party highlighted the prolonged vacancy of the Superintendent of Police post in Nagaur district. The petition argued that the absence of a permanent IPS officer hampers effective law‑and‑order management in the region.

In response, the Rajasthan High Court directed the State Election Commission to furnish a detailed explanation within fourteen days. The court’s notice seeks clarification on the procedural or administrative reasons that have stalled the appointment of a full‑time SP.

The High Court’s intervention underscores the judiciary’s role in ensuring timely administrative actions, especially in positions critical to public safety. The Commission’s reply is expected to outline the steps it will take to resolve the delay and appoint a permanent officer.
