The Rajasthan High Court, hearing a petition by Khushbu and others, directed the state's DIG of police to take personal charge of a couple's security and ensure required safeguards.

The Rajasthan High Court convened a hearing on a petition filed by Khushbu and co‑petitioners concerning the safety of a young couple. The petition sought intervention after the couple reported a minor injury, alleging inadequate protection from local authorities.

In its ruling, the bench instructed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police to personally monitor the couple's security arrangements. The court emphasized that any lapse, even a trivial scratch, would render the DIG accountable for negligence.

The directive also mandates that the DIG ensure all necessary precautions are in place, including increased patrols and prompt medical assistance if required. The court warned that failure to comply could attract contempt proceedings.

Legal experts noted that the order underscores the judiciary's willingness to hold senior police officials directly responsible for public safety, especially in cases involving vulnerable individuals.

The petitioners welcomed the decision, stating that the court's firm stance would deter future lapses and reinforce the duty of law enforcement agencies to protect citizens.
