The Rajasthan High Court directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau to file an FIR against State Bank of India officials accused of demanding bribes, mandating an impartial investigation.

In a recent judgment, the Rajasthan High Court intervened in a corruption case involving senior officials of the State Bank of India (SBI). The court found sufficient cause to order the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to register a formal First Information Report (FIR) against the bank officers accused of soliciting bribes.

The court’s directive emphasizes that the FIR must be lodged promptly and that the ensuing investigation should be conducted without any bias or external influence. The ACB has been instructed to ensure that all evidence, including any financial trails and witness statements, is examined thoroughly.

By mandating an impartial probe, the bench aims to uphold the integrity of public institutions and deter similar misconduct within the banking sector. The decision also signals a broader commitment by the judiciary to curb corruption in financial establishments.

The order comes at a time when anti‑corruption agencies across India are intensifying scrutiny of public and private sector officials. Any findings of wrongdoing could lead to disciplinary action against the SBI officers and potential legal consequences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
