The Rajasthan High Court has introduced strict waste‑management rules for all its court complexes and officials' residential colonies, prohibiting single‑use and disposable plastics.
The Rajasthan High Court issued fresh guidelines aimed at solid waste management across every judicial complex in the state. Under the new framework, the use of single‑use plastic items, including disposable cutlery, plates and packaging, is strictly prohibited within court premises and the residential colonies of judicial officers.
The directive seeks to curb plastic pollution and promote environmentally sustainable practices in government institutions. Court officials have been instructed to ensure compliance by setting up segregation bins, promoting reusable alternatives, and conducting regular monitoring.
Implementation will begin immediately, with periodic reviews planned to assess effectiveness. The High Court has also urged other public bodies in Rajasthan to adopt similar measures, reinforcing the state's broader commitment to reducing plastic waste.
