The Rajasthan state administration approved an ₹18 lakh fund to renovate a school described as a ‘buffalo‑shed’ near Jaipur, a move praised by the Confederation of Joint Parents as a major victory.
The Rajasthan government has sanctioned an expenditure of ₹18 lakh to carry out structural repairs at a government school on the outskirts of Jaipur that has been colloquially referred to as a ‘buffalo‑shed’ due to its deteriorated condition. The funds will be used to replace broken roofs, reinforce walls and provide basic amenities that have long been lacking.
The Confederation of Joint Parents (CJP), a coalition representing parents of government‑run schools, welcomed the decision, calling it a "massive victory" for community advocacy. The group said the allocation reflects the administration’s responsiveness to long‑standing complaints about unsafe learning environments.
Officials indicated that the renovation work is slated to begin within weeks and is expected to be completed before the next academic session, thereby restoring a safe and conducive setting for the children enrolled at the school.
