The Rajasthan government has identified more than 45,000 school buildings that require major repairs and has announced a Rs 12,500 crore investment to upgrade school infrastructure across the state.

The Rajasthan government has flagged over 45,000 school buildings across the state as needing major repairs, according to a recent report released by the Department of Education. The buildings, many of which are in rural and semi‑urban areas, have been found to suffer from structural weaknesses, water damage and inadequate facilities.

In response, the state cabinet has approved a Rs 12,500 crore infrastructure push aimed at refurbishing these schools. The funding will cover repairs, installation of modern amenities, and improvements to classrooms, toilets and electricity supply.

Officials say the project will be rolled out in phases over the next three years, with priority given to schools in districts with the highest number of dilapidated structures. The plan is part of Rajasthan’s broader effort to improve educational infrastructure and ensure safe learning environments for students.
