Rajasthan Expected to See New Monsoon Showers from Sept 4 as Bay of Bengal System Approaches

Meteorologists say a developing system over the Bay of Bengal could bring the next spell of rain to Rajasthan from September 4‑5, ending the current weak monsoon phase.

The monsoon over Rajasthan has been unusually weak this week, with most districts receiving only scattered showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has highlighted that the current lull may be short‑lived.

Weather models are now tracking a low‑pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal. If the system intensifies as forecast, it could move north‑westward and affect Rajasthan beginning on September 4, with the possibility of rain extending into the following day.

IMD officials advise residents and farmers to stay prepared for sudden downpours, especially in the western and central parts of the state, where soil moisture is low. Local authorities are expected to monitor river levels and issue alerts if needed.

The anticipated rainfall could provide much‑needed relief to crops that have been under stress due to the earlier dry spell, potentially improving sowing conditions for the upcoming rabi season.
