Rajasthan’s Education Minister Dilawar’s remarks on guidelines restricting outsiders’ entry, photography, interviews and live streaming in government schools have ignited political debate across the state.

The Rajasthan government has issued new guidelines that limit the presence of non‑students and non‑staff in its public schools, and prohibit photography, video recording, interviews and live streaming on school premises. Education Minister Dilawar, in a recent press conference, defended the measures as necessary to safeguard students’ privacy and maintain discipline.

Opposition parties and some parent groups have criticized the minister’s stance, arguing that the restrictions are overly restrictive and could hinder transparency. They contend that the guidelines lack clear definitions and may be misused to suppress legitimate media coverage.

The controversy has prompted a flurry of commentary on social media, with several lawmakers calling for a review of the policy. The Education Department has said it will hold a meeting to address concerns and clarify the intent of the rules.

While the debate continues, the new guidelines remain in force, and schools across Rajasthan are expected to enforce the restrictions until further notice.
