The Rajasthan government has postponed the senior citizen pilgrimage to Nepal's Pashupatinath Temple, originally scheduled for Aug 27-31, due to severe floods and adverse weather, with a new date yet to be announced.
Jaipur, Aug 27 – The Rajasthan state administration announced that the senior citizen pilgrimage to Nepal’s Pashupatinath Temple, planned under the senior‑citizen travel scheme, will be put on hold until August 31. The decision comes as Nepal grapples with heavy monsoon rains that have triggered widespread flooding and hazardous road conditions.
The pilgrimage, aimed at senior devotees from Rajasthan, was scheduled to commence on August 27 and conclude on August 31. Organisers had coordinated travel, accommodation and religious rites at the revered shrine, which attracts thousands of pilgrims each year.
Authorities cited the deteriorating weather and flood‑related disruptions in the Kathmandu valley as the primary reasons for the postponement. Officials added that safety of the pilgrims remains the top priority and that a revised itinerary will be communicated once the situation stabilises.
The Rajasthan tourism and senior‑citizen welfare departments are monitoring the developments closely and will issue a new schedule as soon as conditions improve in Nepal.
