Rain showers affected several districts of Jammu & Kashmir, while the higher hills continued to be covered in fresh snow.

Rainfall swept across parts of Jammu & Kashmir on Monday, bringing intermittent showers to a number of districts in the valley. Meteorological officials reported that the rain was most pronounced in the lower‑lying areas, causing brief disruptions to local travel.

At the same time, the higher reaches of the Himalayas in the region remained blanketed in fresh snow. The snowfall, which fell earlier in the week, has left the mountain slopes draped in a white mantle, preserving the typical winter scenery of the area.

Authorities have warned commuters about slippery roads and have issued advisories for drivers navigating mountain passes. Some routes connecting remote villages to district centres were temporarily closed as a precaution.

The Jammu & Kashmir Meteorological Department expects the rain to taper off by evening, while temperatures are likely to stay low enough for snow to linger in the upper elevations over the next few days.
