The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms across the country on Friday as the monsoon system continues its retreat.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a bulletin on Thursday indicating that rain showers and thunderstorms are likely to affect large parts of the country on Friday.
The forecast comes as the southwest monsoon, which has been active across most of the subcontinent since early June, begins to withdraw further north and east, a normal phase in the seasonal cycle.
Authorities have advised residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy downpours, and to take precautions against lightning-related hazards.
