The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a storm‑rain warning for 14 districts in western Madhya Pradesh, including Indore and Ujjain, ahead of Dussehra festivities, with rain expected in 15 districts on Monday.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed a storm‑rain warning over the western part of Madhya Pradesh as the state prepares for Dussehra celebrations. The alert covers 14 districts, notably Indore and Ujjain, where large gatherings and cultural events are scheduled for the festival.
Despite the official end of the monsoon season, scattered showers continue to affect the region. IMD officials warned that strong gusts and intermittent downpours could disrupt outdoor processions, fire‑cracker displays and public gatherings.
On Monday, the capital Bhopal and 14 other districts are also expected to receive rain, according to the department's forecast. Authorities have been advised to monitor the situation closely and to take precautionary measures to ensure public safety during the festivities.
Local administration in Indore and Ujjain have been instructed to keep emergency services on standby and to inform the public about possible delays or cancellations of events. Residents are urged to stay updated through official channels and to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
The weather outlook remains uncertain, and officials will issue further updates if conditions change before the peak of Dussehra celebrations later this week.
