The Punjab state disaster management authority has warned of rain and hail across 14 districts, with temperatures set to drop further.
The Punjab State Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert covering fourteen districts, citing the likelihood of heavy rain accompanied by hailstorms over the next 48 hours. The alert was released early Tuesday following a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure observed by the state’s meteorological department.
Officials have cautioned residents to secure loose objects, avoid travel on exposed roads, and stay indoors during the peak of the storm. Farmers have been advised to protect stored crops and livestock from potential damage caused by hail.
Meteorologists predict that temperatures, already lower than seasonal norms, will fall by another 3‑5°C by nightfall, intensifying the cold wave across the region. The combination of precipitation and falling temperatures could lead to localized flooding in low‑lying areas.
PDMA has mobilised emergency response teams in the affected districts and is coordinating with local police and health services to ensure rapid assistance if needed.
