A new railway line now runs through the Naxal‑affected Abujhmad region of Chhattisgarh, promising better connectivity and economic opportunities for locals.

The Indian Railways has completed a stretch of track that traverses the remote Abujhmad area in southern Chhattisgarh, a region long classified as a red‑zone due to insurgent activity. The line links the forest‑covered belt with the broader state rail network, allowing passenger and freight trains to reach villages that previously relied on limited road access.

Officials say the connectivity will facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, timber and other local goods to markets beyond the state, while also enabling residents to travel for education, health care and employment. Security forces have been deployed along the route to safeguard construction workers and ensure the line remains operational.

Local leaders welcomed the development, describing it as a step toward integrating Abujhmad into mainstream economic growth. They hope the railway will attract small‑scale industries and encourage government schemes aimed at improving infrastructure in the region.
