Railway Chairman Satis Kumar Announces Over 150 Trains for Simhastha on Indore-Ujjain Route

During a review tour in Indore, Railway Chairman Satis Kumar said more than 150 trains from across India will operate on the Indore‑Ujjain line for the upcoming Simhastha pilgrimage.
Railway Chairman Satis Kumar visited Indore on Sunday as part of a broader review of railway projects in the region. While touring the city, he inspected ongoing works aimed at handling the expected surge of pilgrims for the forthcoming Simhastha fair in Ujjain.
He announced that more than 150 trains will be scheduled from various cities across the country to run on the Indore‑Ujjain corridor during the festival period. The plan covers both long‑distance express services and special pilgrimage trains, ensuring connectivity for devotees travelling from distant states.
The railway authority has also mobilised additional staff and upgraded signalling and platform facilities at key stations along the route. These measures are intended to minimise congestion and provide a smoother travel experience for the estimated millions of pilgrims expected to attend Simhastha.
Officials indicated that the increased train frequency will be complemented by extra coaches and dedicated reservation windows for pilgrims, reflecting the railways’ commitment to supporting one of the nation’s largest religious gatherings.
