Rail Vikas Nigam has won a ₹543 crore contract from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation to supply rolling stock and related services for the state's metro rail project.

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVN), a government‑owned company under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a ₹543 crore order from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRC). The contract will see RVN supply rolling stock and associated services for the state’s upcoming metro rail network.

RVN has a long track record of manufacturing metro rail coaches and infrastructure components for cities across India. The new contract adds to its portfolio of metro projects, reinforcing its position as a key supplier in the country’s urban transit sector.

The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, established to develop metro rail systems in the state, is planning to launch services in its major cities. The ₹543 crore deal is part of the initial phase of the project, aimed at boosting local manufacturing and creating employment opportunities.

Industry analysts note that the contract could stimulate the regional economy by encouraging the use of domestic components and fostering skill development among local workers.

MPMRC officials have indicated that the next steps will involve detailed design finalisation and the commencement of manufacturing in RVN’s production facilities in the coming months.
