Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the BJP’s handling of the recent Bihar floods, questioning the government's response after 17 years.
Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party's vice‑president, publicly criticised the BJP’s handling of the recent flood emergency in Bihar, asking “What has changed in 17 years?”. He highlighted that the state suffered a similar disaster in 2005 and implied that the current government has failed to learn from past experience.
The floods, triggered by heavy monsoon rains, have inundated large parts of northern Bihar, displacing thousands and disrupting agriculture and transport. State officials have appealed for swift relief, while opposition leaders say the response has been inadequate.
Gandhi’s remarks come as the BJP‑led central government faces mounting pressure to accelerate rescue operations and allocate additional funds. The Congress party has called for a parliamentary debate on the issue, urging the government to prioritize flood‑prone districts.
