Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced a strategy meeting, summoning senior ministers and party in‑charges before Diwali as the party confronts accusations of vote‑theft.
New Delhi, November 5 (India Today) – Rahul Gandhi, senior leader of the Indian National Congress, called for an urgent strategy meeting of the party’s top brass. The meeting is scheduled to take place before the Diwali holidays and will include ministers, state in‑charges and other senior functionaries.
The announcement comes amid a growing controversy over alleged vote‑theft in recent by‑elections, which the opposition has termed a "vote chori" scandal. Gandhi said the gathering will focus on damage control, coordination for upcoming campaigns and reinforcing the party’s narrative ahead of the festive season.
Party sources indicated that the agenda will also cover a review of electoral performance data, allocation of resources for the next phase of the Lok Sabha election campaign, and a unified response to media criticism. No further details about the venue or exact timing have been released.
Analysts note that convening senior leaders before Diwali is a tactical move to project unity and readiness, especially as the Congress seeks to regain momentum in several states where the vote‑theft allegations have sparked protests.
The meeting is expected to be closed‑door, with outcomes to be communicated to party cadres in the coming days.
