A resident of Quepem in Goa was cheated out of Rs 99.5 lakh through a property scam, prompting a police investigation.

A resident of Quepem, a town in the Indian state of Goa, reported being defrauded of Rs 99.5 lakh in a property transaction that turned out to be a scam. The victim approached local authorities after discovering that the promised property documents were either falsified or never existed.

According to the complaint, the fraudster presented themselves as a legitimate seller and collected the full amount from the buyer before disappearing. The loss of nearly one crore rupees has left the victim financially strained and seeking legal recourse.

Goa police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are currently investigating the matter. Investigators are tracing the flow of funds and attempting to identify the individuals or network behind the scheme.

Authorities have warned the public to exercise caution in property dealings, urging prospective buyers to verify ownership records, obtain legal counsel, and conduct due diligence before making any payment.
