The long‑delayed Quepem market in Goa is finally ready, but displaced traders have yet to receive their shop allotments.
After seven years of construction delays, the new market complex in Quepem, Goa, has been declared ready for operation. The infrastructure, which includes modern stalls, sanitation facilities and parking, was inaugurated by local officials last week.
The project displaced dozens of small‑scale vendors who had been operating from temporary sites. While the market walls are up, the authorities have not yet finalized the allocation of individual shops to these traders, leaving many without a permanent space.
