India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, alongside his US, Japanese and Australian counterparts, reaffirmed their support for a free and open Indo‑Pacific during the Quad meeting in Atlanta.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the foreign ministers of Japan and Australia, Toshimitsu Motegi and Penny Wong, at the Quad summit held in Atlanta. The four officials gathered to discuss regional security and economic cooperation under the Quad framework.
During a joint statement, the ministers reiterated their collective commitment to maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo‑Pacific region. They emphasized that the principles of rule‑based order, respect for sovereignty and unimpeded navigation are essential for stability and prosperity.
The reaffirmation comes amid heightened strategic competition in the region, and the Quad partners said they will deepen coordination on maritime security, infrastructure development and supply‑chain resilience. The statement signals continued diplomatic engagement among the four democracies to counter coercive actions and promote shared values.
The leaders also indicated plans for regular high‑level dialogues and joint exercises to translate the commitment into actionable outcomes, reinforcing the Quad’s role as a cornerstone of Indo‑Pacific architecture.
