The Public Works Department has started a Rs 27 crore project to fix potholes on the Seraulim‑Colva stretch in Goa.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has commenced a road‑repair initiative on the Seraulim‑Colva stretch in Goa, allocating a budget of Rs 27 crore. The project targets thousands of potholes that have plagued the coastal highway, especially during the monsoon season, causing inconvenience to commuters and transport operators.

Contractors have been mobilised to begin resurfacing work early this week, with crews using modern paving equipment to ensure a durable finish. The PWD has indicated that the repairs will be carried out in phases to minimise traffic disruption, and temporary diversions have been set up at key junctions.

Officials expect the entire stretch to be fully rehabilitated within the next three months, after which travel time between Seraulim and the popular beach town of Colva should improve markedly. The initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to upgrade infrastructure ahead of the upcoming tourist season.
