The Punjab government has announced that Artificial Intelligence will become a compulsory subject from Class 1 to Class 12, aiming to educate 31.5 lakh students across the state.
Punjab’s education department has unveiled a new curriculum that will introduce Artificial Intelligence as a mainstream subject in every school, starting from the first grade. The initiative is set to cover 31.5 lakh students, making AI a part of the national syllabus for the first time in the state. The rollout will involve teacher training, development of teaching materials, and integration of AI concepts into existing subjects. Officials say the move aims to equip students with digital skills that are increasingly demanded in the modern workforce. The policy will be implemented over the next academic year, with pilot programs already beginning in selected schools.
