Punjab authorities raided a fertilizer warehouse in Bhucho Mandi, seizing illegal DAP and a large stock of pesticides, with samples to be sent for laboratory analysis.
Punjab's fertilizer inspectorate carried out a surprise raid on a storage facility in the town of Bhucho Mandi, uncovering a substantial cache of illegal di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer alongside large quantities of unregistered pesticides. The operation was part of a broader crackdown on illicit agro‑chemical trade that threatens crop safety and farmer incomes.
During the search, officials confiscated the illegal DAP and several containers of pesticides whose origin and composition could not be verified. The seized material is being held as evidence while further investigations determine the supply chain and any violations of state regulations.
The inspector who led the raid said that representative samples of the stored fertilizer will be dispatched to a certified laboratory for quality testing. Results will confirm whether the product meets prescribed standards and will guide any subsequent legal action against the warehouse operators.
Local law‑enforcement agencies have been notified, and the case is expected to be forwarded to the state agriculture department for possible prosecution under the Punjab Agricultural Produce (Control) Act.
