Facing an escalating power shortage, the Punjab AAP administration announced a reshuffle of senior officials to address the crisis.

The state of Punjab is grappling with a worsening electricity shortfall that has led to frequent load‑shedding across major towns and rural areas. Power utilities report that supply gaps have widened over the past weeks, prompting complaints from households and businesses alike.

In response, the Aam Aadmi Party‑led government said it will reassign key bureaucrats in the power department and related agencies. The reshuffle aims to accelerate remedial measures, improve coordination among agencies and fast‑track pending projects that could boost generation and distribution capacity.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, addressing the media, emphasized that the administrative changes are intended to bring fresh energy to the task force handling the crisis. He assured citizens that the government is exploring both short‑term relief, such as additional power imports, and long‑term solutions, including new solar and hydro projects.

The move comes as opposition parties question the administration’s handling of the power sector, while industry groups warn that prolonged outages could hurt Punjab’s agricultural and manufacturing output.
