Manager Sunil Kumar announced that Punjab Natshala will restart staging plays in the coming days, ending a pause caused by the death of veteran artist Barad Sahib.
The Punjab Natshala, a flagship state‑run theatre, is set to revive its performance calendar after a brief hiatus, manager Sunil Kumar said. The pause followed the death of veteran dramatist Barad Sahib, which left many performers demoralised.
Kumar added that rehearsals have already begun and that a fresh slate of productions, including a comedy featuring Kapil Sharma, will soon be staged. The move is intended to restore the cultural vibrancy that the venue traditionally provides to audiences across the state.
By bringing the stage back to life, the management hopes to honour Barad Sahib’s legacy while offering a platform for both established and emerging artists. The renewed schedule is expected to attract theatre‑goers and reinvigorate the local arts scene.
The revival is also seen as a boost for the broader cultural ecosystem in Punjab, providing employment opportunities for actors, technicians and support staff associated with the theatre.
