A Punjab police inspector was taken into custody in the city of Ferozepur following a raid that uncovered over 3 kg of heroin and a cache of firearms and other weapons.
The operation was carried out by the district crime branch in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau, who seized the drugs and weapons from the inspector’s vehicle and personal belongings.
Police officials said the inspector had been under investigation for a period of time and that the seizure was part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
The case is now being forwarded to the Special CBI court for further investigation and possible prosecution under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
