Punjab has issued licences for 2,800 new ration depots, aiming to benefit 550,000 cardholders.

Punjab’s state government has granted licences for the establishment of 2,800 new ration depots across the state. The move is part of the government’s effort to improve the distribution of subsidised food grains. The licences will enable the creation of new depots that can serve a larger population, thereby easing access to essential staples. According to officials, the new depots will benefit about 550,000 ration cardholders who currently rely on existing facilities. The government says the expansion will help meet the growing demand for food security in rural and urban areas.
